Keepsake Hints

What do I do with the ship in the bottle in Nathaniel's office?

  • 1 of 14: First of all, you will need to go into a close-up of the desk and deactivate the protection spell on the desk.  Once that's done, go ahead and touch the ship in the bottle.
  • 2 of 14: Touching the ship in the bottle will draw Lydia in -- so that she will be standing on the deck of the ship.
  • 3 of 14: The door at the back of the ship is active -- and touching it will "transport" Lydia to a new location.
  • 4 of 14: This is not a random maze of mountain paths.  There actually is a location that Lydia can find -- if she only knew where to look.
  • 5 of 14: If only Lydia had a map!
  • 6 of 14: Actually, there was a map back on the deck of the ship.
  • 7 of 14: The map can be found just left of the bottle at the right side of the ship.  Go into a close-up of the bottle to see it (the map cannot be picked up).
  • 8 of 14: There are small squares printed in the background of the map -- rather like the grid found on graph paper.  The grid can help you select the correct paths.  Each square on the map is one decision point on the mountain paths.
  • 9 of 14: The key to reading the map is to pay close attention to the corner where the path crosses from one square into another.
  • 10 of 14: If the path on the map leaves the square at the top left corner, then when Lydia is in the maze of mountain paths, she will need to choose the path that leaves the screen at the top left corner.
  • 11 of 14: Starting at the bottom of the map, make some notes as to the direction of movement, one step at a time, until the path reaches the large "X".
  • 12 of 14: Once Lydia has successfully navigated the maze to the miniature representation of Nathaniel's office, there is one more task to complete inside the office.
  • 13 of 14: It is possible to look at the other side of Nathaniel's desk -- the side with the drawers.
  • 14 of 14: Click on the crank on the drawer on the top right to "unlock" the drawer.  You can open the drawer afterwards.
