The Shrine of the Crusader

  • 1 of 17: Make this the active quest and then search the world map for a red quest arrow.
  • 2 of 17: You'll find one apparently pointing into the water a ways SE of the Imperial City's island.
  • 3 of 17: Travel over there and check the place out to find that, sure enough, the quest arrow is pointing to an underwater door to an Ayleid ruin called Vanua.
  • 4 of 17: You should come prepared with Water Breathing and Night-Eye spells or potions (or the Fin Gleam helm), then dive and go through the door.
  • 5 of 17: Inside, move forward and up some stairs to get out of the water.
  • 6 of 17: Then start exploring around and fighting undead. (Also watch for Welkynd stones on pedestals.)
  • 7 of 17: You'll soon come to a dead end in a room with four Welkynd stone pedestals.
  • 8 of 17: Go along the only path available until you reach the door to the Shrine of the Crusader.
  • 9 of 17: In the shrine's starting rooms, find the large hole in the wall in one room and jump through it.
  • 10 of 17: After you go through another hole in a wall, you'll drop down into a large room with two locked gates.
  • 11 of 17: The south gate is your escape route from the shrine once you have the helmet you came for, and the west gate can help you get to it.
  • 12 of 17: There are two ways to get the Helm of the Crusader: the regular way and the shortcut way.
  • 13 of 17: After you get the helm, put it on if you want to in order to boost your Personality stat and Restoration skill, plus gain the Serene Beauty lesser power.
  • 14 of 17: NOTE: You can't equip this or other Crusader-brand relics if your Infamy score is 2 or higher, so stay away from infamous acts and quests from now on. (Or do them and then do the wayshrine pilgrimage again to get your Infamy back to zero.)
  • 15 of 17: Jump over the nearby railing to get back down to the lower floor, then go through the south gate.
  • 16 of 17: Find the door that leads back to Vanua, then make your way east.
  • 17 of 17: When you come to the upper floor of a large room, drop down to the lower floor and make your way south to Vanua's exit.
