King's Quest I Hints

KQ1: Original vs. Remake

  • Sierra published two versions of King's Quest 1: the original (in 1983) and a later remake (in 1990).  To find which version you are using, load up the program.  The welcome screen (after the joystick initialization screen) will display the date when your version was created.  Most of the hints given in this UHS file work for either version.  When, however, hints apply only to one version, hints and solutions will be marked either ORIGINAL or REMAKE.
