LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Hints
What's the Character Bonus?
1 of 7: The goal of the Character Bonus is to collect 1,000,000 studs in 5 minutes, and score multiplier extras are disabled. You will be allowed to continue past 5 minutes and keep playing until you get the million studs, but you only get the gold brick bonus if you reach the stud goal in 5 minutes or less.
2 of 7: In a way, it's sort of like Free Play mode, because you can start with any character and then toggle between multiple characters during the actual level itself. However, the maps that you play on aren't quite the same as the ones that you see during regular chapter play.
3 of 7: Character Bonus mode adds a purple stud, which is worth 10,000. The usual blue, gold, and silver studs will also be available, but you'll obviously want to focus on the purple.
4 of 7: You can often get purple studs by blowing up shiny metal objects. These will generally respawn a few second after you've blown them up, but check the hints in the episode sections for specific locations.
5 of 7: To do that, you'll need to select a bounty hunter character and use their thermal detonators -- which are also good for clearing out large groups of enemies at once. I generally didn't see any reason to play as another character type besides the bounty hunter -- Boba Fett, to be exact -- although your preferences may differ.
6 of 7: One other thing to watch out for is that the penalty for dying is higher than it is on normal levels, and the few seconds of time that you'll lose while being respawned may matter as well.
7 of 7: Fortunately, you can turn the Invincibility extra on during Character Bonus levels, and that may make it much easier for you to complete your stud goal in 5 minutes.
