LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Hints

How do I get the bounty hunter missions, and how do they work?

  • 1 of 8: The bounty hunter missions are available through the door underneath a small picture of Jabba the Hutt -- in between the Episode IV and Episode V areas in the cantina.
  • 2 of 8: There's no good indicator within the game as to when these will unlock, but you will need to purchase each of the bounty hunter characters that are available.
  • 3 of 8: There are 6 total characters, Greedo, Bossk, Dengar, Boba Fett, 4-LOM, and IG-88.  If some of these still aren't available for purchase, continue playing chapters in Story mode -- all are available in at least one chapter.
  • 4 of 8: Once you have unlocked all of those characters, walk through the door and up to Jabba in the back room, where you can select each of 10 missions.  The goal of the missions is fairly straightforward -- explore an area and find the designated character in no more than 3 minutes.  Complete this task, and you'll be rewarded with a gold brick for each mission, plus a stud bonus depending on how quickly you finish the mission.
  • 5 of 8: Each of the missions takes place in a small part of one of the regular chapter levels.  You may not always start out in the same place as you did in Story mode -- some of the missions put you in the middle of a chapter.  Some doors that you could open in Story mode or even Free Play mode may not open, but you'll be able to go wherever you need to in a level to find your bounty.
  • 6 of 8: When the level starts, you'll be able to switch between any of the 6 characters, just like you do in Story mode.  All 6 of the characters have blasters and can throw thermal detonators.  Boba Fett can use a jetpack to float if you press twice on the jump button.  4-LOM and IG-88 can each use both kinds of droid control panels (both the "R2-D2" and "C-3P0" panels) to unlock doors, and the remaining characters can all use build bricks and pull switches.
  • 7 of 8: Your bounties -- with a few exceptions -- tend to just be standing around in fairly open areas.  A few more may be hidden in the same places as canisters were in Story or Free Play modes, but always in places that bounty hunters can reach.
  • 8 of 8: As a general rule, 3:00 is plenty of time to get where you need to go, once you know where that is.  It may take you a few tries through the level to explore and "map out" a level to eliminate areas.  After you've done that for yourself, or after you've read the mission-specific hints, you generally only have to go one or two screens from where the mission starts out.  Your biggest time loss will generally be in fighting off any of the enemies that try to stop you, and throwing a thermal detonator into a crowd can often make this go faster.  If you need help about where to go in a specific mission, each mission has its own separate hints that will give you that direction.
