LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Hints

Canisters

  • 1 of 22: Most of these canisters can be found only in Free Play.  I will indicate specifically where canisters may also be available in Story mode.
  • 2 of 22: 1 -- Also in Story) Build four cannons on the skiffs at the start of the chapter.
  • 3 of 22: 2 -- Also in Story) On the second skiff, move to the bottom of the screen, and walk the plank.
  • 4 of 22: The canister will be at the far end of the plank.  Luke may be able to double-jump to get the canister and return safely, if you turn carefully in mid-air, but even if you die while trying to get it, you'll still get credit for the canister.  At worst, if you don't have the Invincibility extra, you'll only lose a few studs in the process.  (Or you can just wait until Free Play mode and float more safely as R2-D2 or Boba Fett.)
  • 5 of 22: 3) Just after you finish the last of the small skiffs and get onto the main barge, turn to your right, and you'll see a platform that requires the Dark Force to move.  Use this to jump over to the right side of the barge (as opposed to the left side, which is the only way you can go in Story mode).
  • 6 of 22: Shortly thereafter, you will see a grappling circle.  Go up to the small deck above and look around.
  • 7 of 22: There's a piece of wall you can shoot in between the two switches.  Shoot it and then build the bricks that come out as a result to get your canister.
  • 8 of 22: 4) Go back down from this little area and continue around to the right.  You may eventually notice a canister overhead, just before you get to a gap in the platform.
  • 9 of 22: 5) When you're still outside the barge but about to enter, look to your left, and there's a crate you can destroy with the Dark Force.
  • 10 of 22: This gives you pieces of a grappling pad that you can build.  Build it, and then swing up to a small upper deck.
  • 11 of 22: There are 3 switches here, 2 of which can be operated normally, and a third, which requires the Dark Force.
  • 12 of 22: Quickly flip the two normal switches (the second character will help you there), and then before they reset, use the Dark Force to flip the third.  This will make the canister appear on the front edge of this deck.
  • 13 of 22: 6) In the room where you ride the elevator with the C-3P0 logo on the floor, look at the two small access hatches next to a wall of glass.
  • 14 of 22: Go through those hatches and pull both of the switches on the other side.  That will get you another canister.
  • 15 of 22: 7 -- Also in Story) In the room immediately after the "disco room," and just before you get up to the top deck of the barge, look around carefully.  It may look empty, but it's not.
  • 16 of 22: 8) When you first enter the top deck of the ship, look to the left, and there will be a crate that can be destroyed with the Dark Force, revealing pieces of a grappling circle.
  • 17 of 22: Build these, go up a level, and double-jump across to another circle on another platform straight ahead.
  • 18 of 22: This second circle leads you to an even higher platform, where you can double-jump to get the canister.
  • 19 of 22: 9) On the right side of the top deck, just below the cannon, is a pair of access hatches.  Crawl through either one of these and get the canister in the middle of this section.
  • 20 of 22: 10 -- Also in Story) Notice that there's one canister under some grates that run between the two targets you destroy to end the level.
  • 21 of 22: You can't get it right away, but you might just before the end of the level.
  • 22 of 22: When you shoot one of the targets -- but not both targets -- you can walk back to this area.  Notice there's an elevator where the target used to be.  Hop on that and ride down to the walkway beneath the floor -- you can get the canister here.  (I don't think it matters which target you shoot, but I went with the target that's on the left when you're at the cannon.)
