LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Hints
I'm fighting Vader on a large round platform. How can I get past him?
of 11: You could try just swinging your lightsaber at Vader, and there's an outside chance you might hit him every once in a while. But even the often-trusty technique of double-jumping and then swinging on the way down isn't enough to hit Vader very much. You'll need to look for a sneakier way of taking away some of those hearts.
of 11: It may be easier for you if you make this a team effort.
of 11: Notice that there's a control panel for R2-D2 on the back side of the platform, just to the right of the stairs.
of 11: Switch over to R2-D2 and have him use that panel. When you do, the small 8 black circles toward the outer edges of the platform will start shooting out steam.
of 11: I bet you could use those as a distraction. You just need to look for a way of getting Vader to stand on one of those circles.
of 11: You may notice that as you're fighting Vader, he likes to stand in a couple of places.
of 11: One of those places is in the very center of the platform. But there's also a pattern that gets him to stand on those black circles.
of 11: Retreat a bit so towards the edge of the platform, and Vader should follow you so that he's standing more or less on a black circle. It doesn't matter if he's directly on it or just kind of close, as long as he's not in the very center of the whole area. Then, take a swing at him with your lightsaber.
of 11: When you do this, you may not necessarily do damage, but Vader will at least retreat back to a different black circle on this platform.
of 11: Now's the time to switch over to R2-D2. Have him go to the control panel and activate the steam jets. Vader may move around while you're doing this, but as long as you're fairly quick, he'll always jump to another black circle.
of 11: When Vader's being vented on, switch back to Luke and take a swing. If Vader hasn't recovered yet, you will be able to hit him and take away one of his hearts. Repeat until all of them are gone, and he will run off to the next room.
