LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Hints

How am I supposed to destroy the Emperor?

  • 1 of 8: First, now might be a good time to remind you that hitting random things with your lightsaber is a good way to get spare hearts for yourself if you need them (and don't have an extra like invincibility that you can use here).  When you start out, for example, there are plenty of things you can hit if you go down the stairs and underneath the platform where the Emperor is standing.
  • 2 of 8: Whenever you're ready to get back into the fight, you should be able to take a few hearts off the Emperor just with normal fighting techniques.  I found that doing a double-jump and hitting the attack button on the way down is generally a pretty sure-fire technique for getting a few solid hits.
  • 3 of 8: You'll be able to get at least 4 of the Emperor's 18 hearts just by hitting him like this.  But when it comes to the 5th heart, and many more that will follow, the Emperor will start to use his Force lightning attack on you, preventing you from getting any closer.
  • 4 of 8: Or at least preventing one of the characters you're controlling from getting any closer.
  • 5 of 8: You should still be able to switch characters, even when you're being held by the lightning.
  • 6 of 8: Turn to face the other character and press the button to switch characters.  You'll then have control of whichever of Luke or Vader that isn't being held down by the Emperor's attack -- yes, Vader is a good guy for the purposes of this level -- and should be able to get one good swing in at the Emperor before he drops his lightning attack.
  • 7 of 8: You'll need to be quick, but aside from the damage that you might take while being held, there's no limit to how many times you can try this.  It may help to try to keep your two characters close -- if they get too far apart, it's possible you won't be able to switch characters and run all the way to the Emperor in time.
  • 8 of 8: Once you've gotten the Emperor's 5th heart, he'll run away from his throne and to another part of the level.
