LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy Hints
What are gold bricks for, and where do I get them?
of 12: Gold bricks are your reward for reaching certain goals within the game. As you collect more gold bricks, you'll be able to build unlock certain secret areas, both inside and outside the Cantina.
of 12: The number of gold bricks that's required to enter a secret area will be displayed when you walk up to it. You don't "spend" gold bricks to build things -- all that matters is how many total bricks you've earned. So don't bother trying to "save" gold bricks to see what areas are best -- you can build any of these areas as soon as your total count is high enough.
of 12: There are a total of 99 bricks, and to earn all of them, you'll pretty much need to complete everything that's available to you within the game. After about 60 bricks or so, you'll also start earning a 100,000 stud bonus for each new gold brick that you collect, so this may give you extra incentive to go for the bricks later in the game. Read on to find out where each of the bricks can be found.
of 12: You get 1 gold brick each time you complete a chapter in Story mode. There are 6 chapters in each of 3 episodes, so you can get a total of 18 gold bricks this way.
of 12: Earn True Jedi status in a chapter's Story mode, and get an extra gold brick. That makes another 18 if you earn True Jedi mode in all Story mode chapters.
of 12: Earning True Jedi status in Free Play mode gets you an extra gold brick per chapter.
of 12: And finding the Power Brick in each chapter is worth another gold brick. All together, completing all the different bonuses in each chapter can earn you up to 72 bricks -- 4 per chapter times 18 levels.
of 12: Each episode also has its own 3 bonus levels -- Super Story Mode, the Character Bonus, and the Minikit Bonus. You'll first need to get a few gold bricks just to unlock the bonus levels. All total, you should be able to get 9 bricks from the bonus levels.
of 12: And finally, you can buy 8 gold bricks at the bar. That gives you a total of 99 bricks -- 72 for the main chapters, 9 for the episode bonuses, 10 for the bounty hunter levels, and 8 more you can buy.
of 12: If you want to keep track of what you've done, just walk up to any of the areas that lead to the episodes. You'll see a count as to how far you've progressed in each of these modes, with an overall total like "5/6". When you walk up to the doors for individual chapters, you'll see separate check marks and X's to show you which bricks you have and haven't earned.
of 12: When you get the 99th brick, you'll be able to build one last bonus.
