How can I set the clock?

  • 1 of 9: If you haven't found the clock, go to the desk in the Study and look up.  Clues can be found in this same room.
  • 2 of 9: Click on the Bible.  Notice which passage is highlighted.
  • 3 of 9: John 5:30 is highlighted in the Bible.  So your object is to set the clock to 5:30.
  • 4 of 9: Look in the trash can on the floor to the right of the desk.  Jot down what is written on the note there:

    Melody = 12 o'clock
    3 chimes = 6 o'clock
    1 chime = all other times
  • 5 of 9: If you back away from this puzzle, it will still be set where you left it.  So the clues in the trash can will help you no matter what you have done so far.  To get an idea where you are, click on the center hole often and listen.  When you set it correctly, you'll hear 5 fast chimes.
  • 6 of 9: It is easiest for me to explain the solution with the clock set to 12 o'clock and working from there.  (In my game, the beginning time on the clock was already 12.)
  • 7 of 9: Click on the center hole and listen.  If you don't hear a full melody with chimes, click on the 3, 6, 9 and 12 (in that order) to wind it one hour.  Then listen again.  If it doesn't play a full melody, keep winding it (clockwise) one hour at a time until it does.
  • 8 of 9: When you're sure it is at 12 o'clock, wind the clock around clockwise 5 full hours.  (5:00)
  • 9 of 9: Then click the minute hand on the 3 and then the 6.  Click on the center circle.  You should hear 5 quick tones to confirm that the desk drawer is unlocked!
