1 of 2: Nothing shows up until someone tells you about it. I'll tell you what actions are required for each site.
2 of 2: Of course, if a place has been mentioned and you can't find it on the map, it's possible that (like me) you didn't notice that the map scrolls down. The lower half of Manhattan isn't revealed until you scroll down. (D'oh!)
