Isn't the chieftan supposed to have the Ruby of Truth?
1 of 6: Yes, and he does really have it. Go visit him, and you'll find out what he wants from you.
2 of 6: Nothing you have in your inventory is valuable enough to the chieftan. Try trading a few times, and he'll tell you what you must collect from him.
3 of 6: You could choose to kill him now and take the ruby, but it's probably better to complete his task.
4 of 6: Wander all of the swamps until you find the walking tree that has the ceremonial helmet in its possession. You just have to keep killing the trees until you find the right one.
5 of 6: Look in an area towards the center of the swamp, past a cluster of three swamp pits. The tree you're looking for is usually there.
6 of 6: Once you return the helmet to the chieftan, he'll give you the Ruby.
