Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude Hints
Conversation
of 9: Instead of having the usual choose-dialogue-choices-from-a-list routine when you talk to a girl, the LSL8 creators came up with something a bit more creative.
of 9: You affect the course of Larry's conversation with the girl he's talking to by navigating the little sperm guy on the mini-game screen.
of 9: You can only move him up and down with the W and S keys, so the controls are certainly simple. The hard part is keeping your heart meter in the green (that is, the border around the heart shape should be green -- the heart itself is red).
of 9: You usually only want the sperm guy to collide with green icons, which include the green heart and the green face. These will increase your heart meter if it's not already full.
of 9: Hitting any red icon will decrease your heart meter, but you don't lose the mini-game the first time you hit a red item. You can always nab more green items to make up for it (until your time is up, that is).
of 9: The conversation will be over when the thin green line makes it all the way across the bottom of the game screen. The line progresses a bit every time you grab a face of any color, a body part icon, and a couple of other types.
of 9: It can be fun to nab red items (especially the ones that look like body parts or a camera) just to hear how it affects Larry's conversation, but you need to make sure your heart meter has a green border (which it will if it's full or nearly full) when the conversation is over.
of 9: If you lose a conversation mini-game, you can try again, but each loss costs you some confidence. You can either save before a conversation game and then restore if you lose, or you can go play something easy like the whack-a-pole mini-game to get your confidence back before trying again.
of 9: NOTE: This game is considerably harder to play while drunk, since the more drunk you are, the more sluggish the controls are. Also, watch out for beer-shaped or martini-shaped icons while playing, since they'll make you drunker. Yellow coffee mug icons will sober you up, so go for those.
