Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude Hints

Gettin' Drunk

  • 1 of 6: You can't have a sotty college boy game without booze and the possibility -- no, *inevitability* of getting drunk. In fact, some of the girls and some of the mini-games (like quarters) require it.
  • 2 of 6: When Larry gets even a little drunk, an outline image of him that acts as a "drunk meter" will appear near the bottom right corner of the screen. It fills up with yellow liquid to show approximately how drunk Larry is.
  • 3 of 6: Being drunk can be fun, but it can also be a serious problem, especially when you're talking to non-drunk people and playing mini-games that depend on speed and reflexes. Since you the player aren't required to get drunk in real life whenever Larry does, the game compensates by making mini-game controls more sluggish and less responsive the more Larry gets drunk.
  • 4 of 6: As for curing the drunken condition, the age-old method of drinking lots of coffee will work. You can buy coffee from most places that sell booze, but it can get expensive to totally cure Larry's sotty condition that way every time.
  • 5 of 6: The cheap alternative is to piss off the drunkenness, which can be done by pressing and holding the RIGHT SHIFT or RIGHT CTRL key. You can do this anywhere, and on anything or anyone! However, your confidence meter goes down a bit as you do, especially if you have a lot to piss off.
  • 6 of 6: STREAK NOTE: If you drink past a full drunk meter while buying drinks (not in conversation games that have drink icons in them), you'll automatically start an Avoidance mini-game in which Larry is streaking around the area he's in, flashing chicks and avoiding a pounding from the guys. Flash enough girls, and you'll sleep the drunkenness off and get a confidence boost (otherwise, it's a confidence drain).
