1 of 7: It'll come in handy on a certain planet.
2 of 7: Once you finish the "Citadel: Expose Saren" mission and have command of the Normandy, use its galaxy map to travel to the Hercules system in the Attican Beta cluster.
3 of 7: Choose to land on the planet Eletania.
4 of 7: Drive the Mako over the extremely rugged terrain to the west until you reach the anomaly that's marked on the map.
5 of 7: Park next to the structure and get out of the Mako.
6 of 7: Run up to the big sphere and choose to "recover" it, which involves playing a Decryption Minigame.
7 of 7: After that, examine the sphere to get a bunch of XP and a text story that implies that Protheans studied primitive humans thousands of years ago on Earth.
