Mass Effect Hints
A Note about the Hints
Just about everything you can do in this game is part of either a mission or an assignment, so this hint file is organized around those two things.
Missions are the required plot-related "quests" that you must complete in order to progress through the game. This hint file organizes missions into sections which are named either for the major task or the location of the missions within that section. The sections are listed in the order that you can first get their starting missions, though note that some sections come in sets that can be done in any order. For instance, you can complete the "Finding Liara T'Soni," "Noveria," and "Feros" sections in any order you want to after you finish the "The Citadel" section.
Assignments are always optional, and are mainly good for extra equipment, credits, and XP. Several of the mission hint sections have a list of optional assignments that are closely related to the region that the missions happen in. Once the core mission is done, you may not be able to return to the planet -- so make sure to solve these region-related assignments before finishing the main mission if you don't want to miss out. The more general assignments are all put in the "UNC Assignments" section and other sections below it.
Most mission and assignment hints consist of info on how to get the mission or assignment followed by a list of objectives that need to be done (usually in the order listed). However, missions that have only one objective won't be done that way -- they'll just have a single set of hints with a note at the top telling you what your journal will list as the objective name.
