Mass Effect Hints
Deactivate the Charges
of 12: There are three widely-scattered charges that you'll need to disarm, and you have very little time to do it in. Also, there will be several defense drones shooting at you as you run around.
of 12: Check your area map for the three "!" symbols that show where the charges are.
of 12: You start out just north of some stairs that lead to the upper level, so go up them, turn right, and run over to the room that contains the western-most charge.
of 12: NOTE: When you attempt to disarm a charge, you'll have to win a Decryption Minigame. If you lose it, you'll have to try again. There's no option to spend omni-gel to bypass it.
of 12: After that charge is disarmed, get back on the upper-level walkway and run north to the two sets of stairs that lead down to the lower level.
of 12: Go down whichever stairs aren't clogged by defense drones -- you have absolutely no time to waste on fighting them.
of 12: From the bottom of those stairs, turn left and run along until you find stairs that lead down to a recessed area with the central charge in it.
of 12: Quickly disarm it, then turn around and run back the way you came, using the same stairs to get back onto the upper level.
of 12: Once there, turn right (east) and run along until you reach the eastern charge.
of 12: As soon as you disarm it, the remaining defense drones will disappear, and Simon will talk to you.
of 12: You'll be able to choose a reward from him. Note that you can get his high-quality omni-tool if you're persuasive enough.
of 12: After the conversation is over, you'll have the "Free the Hostages" objective.
