Mass Effect 2 Hints

Survive.

  • 1 of 8: This second "survive" objective starts soon after you press the keystone following the klixen attack.
  • 2 of 8: A giant thresher maw creature will be moving around the edge of the arena and spitting toxic gunk at you. Your two options are to use your heavy weapon to kill it, or wait out the five-minute timer.
  • 3 of 8: If you'd rather wait it out, stay in your favorite corner and watch for it to appear in a spot that it can spit on you from.
  • 4 of 8: When it does, quickly strafe left or right to dodge its spit. It should be easy to dodge if you start strafing right after the maw starts "winding up" for its spit toss.
  • 5 of 8: If you get hit by some spit, you should still be okay. The spit will take out your shields, but won't do any health damage, and the maw should change position before it spits again. (Though it may on rare occasions spit two or three times in a row.)
  • 6 of 8: TIP: If you scrunch into the corner that's between the turbine and the wall that's just to the right of it, you'll minimize your exposure to the thresher maw, and probably won't get spit at even once.
  • 7 of 8: The maw doesn't seem to ever spit at anyone but your main character. If your squad members are in a good central position from which they can shoot the maw wherever it rises up, they may be able to kill it by themselves.
  • 8 of 8: If you have plenty of heavy weapon ammo, you may want to help them out in order to get past this combat faster. (But don't use too much heavy weapon ammo, since you'll want to have plenty of it for the next combat.)
