Magic Carpet 2 Hints
Spells
The spells and their effects are described well in the Magic Carpet 2 manual. Unlike the original Magic Carpet, spells now have multiple levels. As you get experience, a red bar on the spell selector grows. When it gets high enough, if you have enough manna power, you can click and hold your mouse button down on the base spell and then slide up to the second level spell, while still holding the mouse button down. Read the manual carefully, and you can also learn how to speed select spells with the Shift key. A few spells have some especially interesting uses.
The highest level of Fire Ball, for example, is called Fire Storm. Fire Storm is excellent to use in reducing enemy castles, as it is very low manna cost with lots of destructive power. Although hard to target onto a flying wizard, it will usually kill a wizard in one hit.
Rebound is generally useful, but it is essential to use it when killing Sentinels. (Awfully handy with Wyverns and Hydras, too!) Be careful to keep some manna, as you will not recharge while Rebound is working, and repelling attacks takes up manna.
Gravity well is useful as a weapon, but it is even more useful in flattening out bumpy terrain that may be giving the enemy a place to hide, especially near your castle. It also tidies up walls that might be littering your country side.
Meteor is the weapon of choice when mopping up. It targets very well, and has a big kick, especially at the higher levels.
Lightning is good to use in towns, as it targets best of all and does little or no damage to friendly buildings.
