The Messenger Hints

What am I supposed to do with all of these portraits?

  • 1 of 17: The solution may be found in the royal note.
  • 2 of 17: You need to follow a specific "path" from portrait to portrait.
  • 3 of 17: Not all portraits need to be accessed.
  • 4 of 17: Note the clues in the royal note: Louis, Francois "hairy nose," Anne's Charles, and Francois "with a feather."
  • 5 of 17: Look through all of the portraits on the left, and note the names of the kings.
  • 6 of 17: There is only one Louis. 
  • 7 of 17: There is only one Francois with facial hair.
  • 8 of 17: There is only one Charles across from an Anne.
  • 9 of 17: There is only one Francois "with a feather."
  • 10 of 17: You need to "unlock" the specific portraits, in a specific order.
  • 11 of 17: How might you "unlock" a portrait?
  • 12 of 17: Note the "H" insignia at the bottom of each.
  • 13 of 17: Where have you seen this design before?
  • 14 of 17: Look closely at the royal signet ring.
  • 15 of 17: Apply the signet ring to the four portraits (on the "H" insignia), in the order indicated.
  • 16 of 17: If counting the portraits from the door you entered from, the four portraits are numbered: 3, 5, 4, and 7 (all the kings' portraits are on the left).
  • 17 of 17: If done correctly, a secret door will automatically open.
