Metal Gear Solid Hints
Psycho Mantis
1 of 9: This battle can prove extremely frustrating for first-time players.
2 of 9: To start with, knock Meryl out with a Stun grenade, and then the real battle begins.
3 of 9: At first Psycho Mantis proves impossible to hit with weapons or punches.
4 of 9: He keeps "reading" your controller to find out what you are going to do.
5 of 9: You need to find some way of stopping him from "reading" your controller.
6 of 9: All you need to do to render him relatively harmless is change your controller to port 2.
7 of 9: This way Mantis cannot read your "mind" and proves fairly easy to beat by way of punches or weapons. You still cannot use grenades, Claymore mines or C4 explosives, as Mantis will detonate them, hurting you in the process.
8 of 9: Continue to hurt Psycho Mantis, but be careful, as he sometimes revives Meryl and controls her, so knock her out as you did before.
9 of 9: Also, be careful of Mantis' telekinesis, when he makes furniture fly around the room. When he does this, lay on the floor until the furniture stops.
