Midnight Nowhere Hints
I'm stuck!
Try the following:
-- Pixel-hunting takes on a whole new meaning in this game. You'll need to hunt first with the Look icon, then with the Take icon, and lastly with the Use icon, to make sure you've gotten everything there is to get. And even then, some things will only register if you have the appropriate inventory item in hand when you search them.
-- Sometimes you have to Look at an item before you can Take or Use it. Sometimes you have to Look-Use-Look repeatedly before you can get what you want. If you're sure you need to have the thing in front of you, run through all the icons one after the other.
-- Passwords: They're everywhere. They don't usually look like passwords. Any time you see a number of any sort, write it down.
-- Try turning the gamma up (in the Options menu) so you can actually see what's in the room. Atmospheric darkness is all very well, but not if you're going to trip over your own feet. Or try turning it down again -- computer screens in particular are impossible to read if the gamma is too high.
-- Lastly, don't expect the plot to actually, you know, make sense or anything. In a game where half the references say the year is 2015 and half of them say it's 2019, you know logic is going to be a problem. You know that line on the box, where it says, "The answers to everything will be found at the end of a life or death struggle"? Don't count on it. (It might help to think of the whole thing as an allegory of Chernobyl.)
