Mysterious Journey II Hints
How do I cross the forcefield bridge?
of 19: Once again, there is a control panel nearby. Look for it along the cliff to the left of the forcefield (on the left when looking at the forcefield).
of 19: Using the buttons on the control panel either turns or deactivates the forcefields. The forcefields will need to be turned and deactivated -- so that the wide opening is accessible -- before you'll be able to cross the bridge.
of 19: The top row of buttons rotates the forcefields, and the bottom row of buttons deactivates them. Each button will rotate (or deactivate) one or more forcefields; however, each button will always rotate (or deactivate) the same forcefields. Make careful note of what all the buttons do -- exactly which forcefields are turned, or deactivated, by each button.
of 19: When working this puzzle, it may be easier if all the forcefields are rotated so that you can see each of the arches over the bridge pieces. That will make it easier to be sure they are all deactivated before rotating them into position.
of 19: Look for forcefields that can only be deactivated by one button. Those, obviously, will need to be set first.
of 19: For the purpose of this description, the forcefields are numbered from left to right. The buttons on the bottom row (from left to right) activate/deactivate the following segments: 1; 2 & 5; 2 & 3; 1 & 4; 5 & 6; 6.
of 19: There are two forcefields that are controlled by only one button -- the third button is the only one that can deactivate the third forcefield; and the fourth button is the only one that can deactivate the fourth forcefield. Once you've set those two, the remainder of the forcefields can be figured out fairly easily.
of 19: Once the third and fourth buttons are correctly set, they cannot be used again to deactivate other forcefields, so cross those buttons off your notes. Using the remaining buttons, search for other forcefields that can only be deactivated by one button.
of 19: The next ones to deactivate are the first and second buttons (from the left).
of 19: Next, set the fifth button; and lastly set the sixth.
of 19: Once all forcefields are off, use the same logic to turn them into the correct position. Turn the forcefields and make notes of which ones are turned by which button.
of 19: Again, let's number the forcefields from left to right. The buttons on the top row (from left to right) rotate the following segments: 1 & 3; 2 & 6; 3 & 4; 1 & 4; 3 & 5; 5 & 6.
of 19: This time, there is only one forcefield that can only be rotated by one button.
of 19: The second button from the left must be set first, since it is the only button that can rotate the second forcefield. Once correctly set, cross it off the list, and look at the remaining buttons for other forcefields that can only be turned by one button.
of 19: Use the button on the far right next to turn the forcefield on the far right to its correct position. Keep in mind that it may not be necessary to turn all the forcefields mentioned here, since the need will depend on whether or not the forcefield is already in it's correct position.
of 19: Then the fifth one (counted from the left). Watch the fifth forcefield, to be sure it is turned correctly.
of 19: That leaves only three forcefields to be turned. If any of the last three forcefields were not turned since the puzzle was started, then the button you'll need to press is the third one, which turns the third and fourth forcefields.
of 19: However, if these forcefields were turned earlier, then you'll need to decide which button will turn the remaining forcefields. The first, third, and fourth buttons each operate two of the three remaining forcefields.
of 19: If the first and third forcefields need to be turned, press the first button. If the third and fourth forcefields need to be turned, press the third button. And, if the first and fourth forcefields need to be turned, press the fourth button.
