Mysterious Journey II Hints

What do I do after I've used the pod?

  • 1 of 19: Once you've arrived on the lower level, there is only one thing you can interact with.  Notice the plant just to the left (with your back to the pod) of the exit from the pod.
  • 2 of 19: Have you seen any of these symbols before?
  • 3 of 19: The three along the top are the same as ones found on some sign-posts in the Ansala area.
  • 4 of 19: The sign-posts can be located by riding back up in the pod and exploring the area.  Each of the signs is located near a path.
  • 5 of 19: Once you've found each of the signs, make careful note of how many symbols are on each one.
  • 6 of 19: Once you have the information from the signs, you are ready to travel in the pod again and return to the plant with the symbols.
  • 7 of 19: Notice anything else about the plant?  Any ideas what the four symbols could be, underneath the familiar symbols from the signs?
  • 8 of 19: Each of the four symbols is used to represent a different number.
  • 9 of 19: The symbol that represents zero looks link a thin zero, with a point at the top and bottom.
  • 10 of 19: When you click on the 0, it changes to a symbol that represents the number 1.  The next symbol represents the number 2, the last one represents the number 3.  Refer to the diagram below to see which symbols represent which numbers.
  • 11 of 19: Your goal for this puzzle is to enter in the numbers you collected from the Ansala signposts.
  • 12 of 19: Did you notice that the signs on the signposts have more than four symbols on them?  But the numbers on the plant only go from 0 to 3.  Any idea how you could enter those numbers on the plant?
  • 13 of 19: In order to enter in the numbers from  the signposts, you'll have to convert the numbers into base four numbers.
  • 14 of 19: Start with the script backwards "J" -- there are only 9 of these symbols, which should make this number easier to convert to base 4.  Counting to 9, in base 4, would go like this "1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 20, 21".  The "2" in "21" stands for 2 groups of 4 (or 2 x 4 = 8); plus the "1" just stands for 1 (8 + 1 = 9).
  • 15 of 19: To enter the "21" on the plant, first find the backwards script "J" on the right side of the plant.  You'll need to use the controls immediately underneath the "J".  Make sure the numbers start at the zero (thin 0, with points at the top); then click on the middle button two times, and far right button once.
  • 16 of 19: The script backwards "T" (with the dot) is in the center of the plant.  There were 15 of these symbols on the sign.  Counting to 15 in base 4 would go like this "1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 20, 21, 22, 23, 30, 31, 32, 33".  The left-most "3" in "33" stands for 3 groups of 4 (or 3 x 4 = 12), the right-most "3" stands for 3 (12 + 3 = 15).
  • 17 of 19: To enter "33" on the plant, use the controls in the center.  Reset the controls to zero -- then click on the center button three times, and the right button three times.
  • 18 of 19: The script backwards "b" is on the left of the plant.  There were 16 of these symbols on the sign.  Counting to 16 in base 4 would go like this "1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 20, 21, 22, 23, 30, 31, 32, 33, 100".
  • 19 of 19: To enter "100" on the machine, reset all the left-most set of controls to zero -- then click on the far left button once.
