Might and Magic VII: For Blood and Honor Hints

Paladin to Crusader

  • 1 of 9: You will get this quest from Sir Charles Quixote, who has a house to the north of the Steadwick town hall in Erathia -- he has the western door on a building he shares with Frederick Org.  Quixote will ask you to kill Wromthrax the Heartless in his cave in Tatalia.
  • 2 of 9: Quixote claims that he will help you -- and even joins your party -- but as far as I can tell, he's of no real use.  You'll just have to enter the dragon's cave in the far north of Tatalia at (-874, 21055) and fight this battle yourself.
  • 3 of 9: Quixote also claims that the dragon is only in his cave certain times of the year, but Wromthrax was there every time I tried to fight him.  If he's not there, though, leave and come back at another time.
  • 4 of 9: This fight can be a bit easier if you look for a few tactics that are unique to the caves -- in addition to using all of the usual defensive and statistic-enhancing spells.
  • 5 of 9: First, you want to find a way to get closer to the dragon, so you can use melee attacks.
  • 6 of 9: Try the raised pool in the center of the cave.  Stand on the edge, and Wromthrax will usually fly close enough for you to use melee weapons against him.  This makes the fight much easier -- especially if you remember to cast Heroism (and Hammerhands, if appropriate).  Otherwise, your bows and arrows aren't going to do enough damage.
  • 7 of 9: Also, note that you can heal within the cave.
  • 8 of 9: If the fight gets too tough, head back toward the exit.  The dragon doesn't defend his cave as long as you keep a safe distance, so you should be able to use healing potions or spells, let Regeneration do its work by waiting, or even rest at the edges of the cave without worrying about attack.  I know the first two options (potions/spells or waiting without resting) will not let Wromthrax heal, but if you exit the cave, and possibly rest a full 8 hours, he will heal.  So try to stay awake and in the cave.
  • 9 of 9: Once you've healed a bit, go back for another pass on the dragon.  If necessary, keep healing until you can finally kill him.
