Hunter to Ranger Lord
1 of 10: Lysander Sweet in a small ground-level village in the Bracada Desert (a bit to the south of the center of the map area) will give you a quest to talk to the Oldest Tree in the Tularean Forest. You will also get a quest from the tree that's worth an additional 5,000 XP over the usual promotion quest bonuses.
2 of 10: You can find the Oldest Tree on the southern island on the east side of the Tularean Forest, at (15048, -16412). Walk up to him once you have the quest, and he will start talking to you. Note that there's no way to initiate a conversation by clicking on the tree -- you just have to get close and let it do the talking.
3 of 10: Once you have the Ranger Lord quest, the tree will tell you that the Heart of the Wood has been taken by the members of the Mercenary Guild in Tatalia. You need to retrieve it for the Oldest Tree.
4 of 10: The Mercenary Guild is located in the northern mountain village, at (17911, 16832).
5 of 10: Look to the northeast corner of the lower (ground) level of the Guild for the Heart of the Wood.
6 of 10: That is, go north into the main room (the one with a staircase), turn east into a hallway, and then take the door at the north end of the hallway.
7 of 10: You'll have to fight off some guards once you open that door. I recommend using a Berserk spell to get them to attack each other, before they start coming at you. Then, you can kill the remaining guards much more easily. You also might be able to get away with Invisibility, but I wouldn't count on it, since the place is pretty tightly packed.
8 of 10: There's a secret door in this room.
9 of 10: Move the bookcase on the north wall and find the Heart of the Wood in a chest just behind the bookcase.
10 of 10: Return the Heart of the Wood to the Oldest Tree and then go to Lysander Sweet to report your success and receive your promotion.
