I was surrounded and pounded the moment I entered!
1 of 5: These Ogres take fortress security very seriously.
2 of 5: You should always enter in turn-based mode.
3 of 5: After using the Day of the Gods pedestal in town and casting all the beneficial spells you can (and restoring your spell points at the town fountain after doing so).
4 of 5: If you still can't handle it (i.e., get badly bashed three tries in a row), then just go adventure elsewhere until you can train up a bit in the local training hall. A few more hit points and spell points will make a big difference.
5 of 5: Also, remember that when you leave an indoor area, all injured but alive monsters are healed, but all dead monsters stay dead. That means you could go in, concentrate on killing a few Ogres, retreat and heal, and repeat as necessary.
