Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer Hints

Should I ever endanger my lives by going into the Dragons' guarded tunnel?

  • 1 of 12: Why, certainly!
  • 2 of 12: Even if you're not up to scragging them all, there's a way you can trick your way into the treasure room.
  • 3 of 12: First, save your game in a regular save slot. You may need to restore back to it soon.
  • 4 of 12: Then push past the guard point, making the Dragons mad, and run like crazy down the tunnel.
  • 5 of 12: You need to make it as far as you can before you're blocked by more Dragons.
  • 6 of 12: When you are, hit the quicksave key (F11) quickly!
  • 7 of 12: Then hit Esc and load your quicksave back up.
  • 8 of 12: That sounds useless, but it will friendly the Dragons back up and put them back in their original positions if you made it far enough down the tunnel before saving. (Also, if new Dragon guards teleported in, they'll vanish without a trace.)
  • 9 of 12: This may not always work for you, since the sensitive area that makes the Dragons mad when you're in it isn't just a single point, but a large chunk of the tunnel. Be sure to make a regular save just before your tunnel run in case your quicksave traps you in a deadly situation you can't get out of.
  • 10 of 12: If you keep trying, you should eventually make it past their "mad spot" safely, and can then continue on to the treasure room unmolested. Grab those artifacts!
  • 11 of 12: When you're done, cast Town Portal or Lloyd's Beacon if you can to save yourself some trouble.
  • 12 of 12: If you can't, then you're going to have to run out the same way you came in, right past the old "mad spot." Use the same save-and-restore routine and you'll be out of there with the treasure in no time!
