Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer Hints

Garrote Gorge

  • 1 of 8: As soon as you arrive, grab the Horseshoes from near the stable and head straight for the Dragon Cave. It's easy to get there without coming in range of the Nagas, so avoid them.
  • 2 of 8: Once in the cave, go get Ithilgore and use his skill points and your Horseshoes to get him trained to master of Dragon Ability. Then go talk to Redreaver to get the quest for becoming a Great Wyrm.
  • 3 of 8: Go outside, have Ithilgore cast Flight, and lead a whole bunch of Nagas southwest to where Whistlebone's encampment is. Feel free to help them out by blasting at the Dragon Hunters, but stay up where they can't slash you. All you have to watch out for up there are the Nagas' Blades spells.
  • 4 of 8: After you nab Whistlebone's sword, continue to lead Nagas and Dragon Hunters together (and assist in their slaughter from a safe distance) until they're all dead meat. Then you'll have a whole lot of bodies to loot and some quests you can claim success on (most notably the Great Wyrm promo quest).
  • 5 of 8: After that, you might as well do some other local Secondary Quests. Also, you'll probably want to train Ithilgore until he has enough skill points to become a GM in Dragon Ability before you leave the area.
  • 6 of 8: After you do all that, you might want to consider attempting to clear out and loot the Dragon Cave. It'll be tough and time-consuming, but very rewarding. Skip it for now if it's too tough or you're anxious to get Cauri in your party, but don't forget about it.
  • 7 of 8: Finally, make sure your Cleric is made a Body Magic master here, and that he sets his skill points for Body Magic to 10 so he can GM in Murmurwoods. (There's no training area there, so do all your training here.) Also, have him learn the Protection from Magic book you hopefully bought earlier in Ravenshore.
  • 8 of 8: To get to Murmurwoods from the Gorge, simply walk off the north edge of the map. The simplest and best thing to do is to follow the path that meanders off to the northwest from the town.
