Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer Hints
What am I supposed to do in these rooms with the narrow raised pathway?
of 12: Traverse the narrow pathway.
of 12: From where you enter, hop over the fiery floor into the next room. (You might want to set a Lloyd's Beacon right next to the exit first to make things easier later on.)
of 12: Then go up the circular ascending ramp and into the rooms beyond.
of 12: While crossing the narrow, twisting pathway, always walk carefully and set a Lloyd's Beacon every twist or two in case you fall off. That way you can just quickly recall the beacon and avoid lots of running around and fire damage.
of 12: Actually, if you have a Vampire and are levitating (or are willing to do a lot of healing), you could drop down to the fiery floor and run east along that to reach the other side. Watch out for elementals blocking your way!
of 12: Once you reach the opposite room, you'll see it has a circular ascending ramp, too. Hop onto it quickly, if necessary, to avoid further fire damage from the floor.
of 12: After killing off all the Fire Elementals that are heckling you, open the secret door in the south wall, partway up the ramp. Past it is a room with more elementals and some good floor treasure (including an artifact).
of 12: Then continue all the way up the ramp until you're at the top, at the start of the raised path leading back west to the entry room.
of 12: Turn around and jump carefully onto the squarish metal column near you. (Set a beacon before doing so in case you miss it.)
of 12: When you land on it, it will start lowering, and so will the large column that's next to the exit door.
of 12: You now need to make your way back to the room with that door and column. The easiest way is to recall a beacon there if you set one earlier. If not, you're going to have to walk along the twisting walkway. You can't take a shortcut by dropping down and running along the fiery floor this time.
of 12: Once you're back in the starting room, hop onto the now-lowered elevator column. It will take you up to a point where you can continue on to the next section of the castle.
