Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer Hints
How do I make it to where Escaton is sitting around?
of 8: Have you explored around as much as you can?
of 8: This is a rather maze-like indoor area, so consult your automap and my Palace Map often and set beacons at closed doors you can't open (so you can check them quickly whenever you hit a button or lever).
of 8: The main things you're hunting for at first are secret doors and levers to pull.
of 8: All of the locked doors in here are opened by levers or buttons. However, some doors aren't locked and can be opened just by clicking on them, so always try that when you come across closed doors.
of 8: As for the secret doors, you need to have an effective Perception of 40 (level 10 grandmaster) in order to see them, and you really need to see them in order to get to some vital levers (and cool treasure).
of 8: If your Perception isn't up to par, either go adventure elsewhere and train someone up who can become a Perception GM, or dump someone and go hire Duroth the Eternal in Old Loeb's Cave in Regna. He'll be ready to join you by now, and is a Perception GM.
of 8: If you don't want to explore around at random, you can follow the lever-and-door sequence shown on my Palace Map. You start by hitting levers a and b to open doors A and B.
of 8: Once you do that, you can get up to the area with lever c, and then you can get to button d in the NE tower, and so on.
