Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer Hints
Monsters
Instead of listing every attribute of every monster here, I have made "collections" of data that I feel are the most interesting and useful. For instance, it's useful to know which monsters have special attacks that Protection from Magic (a Body Magic spell) can protect you from. I also list all other special attack categories, and alphabetize the monster names under those categories. I also include a list of all the monsters that give the highest-level treasure, meaning you can actually get artifacts from them.
Monsters that drain spell points:
Vampire, Greater Vampire
Monsters that are immune to physical damage:
Fear, Terror, Nightmare
Monsters that yield the best treasure:
Chaos Overlord (Item, 30% chance)
Crystal Guardian (Item, 30% chance)
Dragon, Dragon Flightleader, Great Wyrm (Item)
Emerald Dragon, Sapphire Dragon, Ruby Dragon (Item)
Plane Overlord (Item, 40% chance)
Note that monsters that yield the best treasure don't always give artifacts or even top-notch non-artifacts. It's always best to save your game right before raiding the body of a dead best-treasure monster and restore if what you get isn't something you can use (or at least sell for big bucks if you're short of cash).
Also, on very rare occasions, a monster that yields an item (whether best-level or not) will give an item without the body disappearing. That means you can raid him for more gold and items! The chances of that happening are very low, so if you want to "pump" a best-treasure monster for a stream of artifacts and other cool gear, you're going to have to have a LOT of patience and restore your saved game many, many times.
