Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer Hints
How does potion making work?
1 of 6: Basically, any character can mix a simple potion from a reagent and an empty potion bottle, and characters with the Alchemy skill can mix two potions to make more complex ones. (See page 45 of the Player Manual.)
2 of 6: The following tables list all the reagents in the game and what potions at what strength they make, and then all the potion combos available.
3 of 6: On the white and black potions, I list a basic mixture and an extended mixture. The basic mixture always lists exactly two potions that, combined, make the new potion.
4 of 6: The extended mixture column lists all the basic and complex potions (R=Red, B=Blue, Y=Yellow, O=Orange, P=Purple, G=Green) needed, with parentheses to guide the order of mixture.
5 of 6: This is useful when you want to mix up a white or black potion from scratch; you can get a simpler potion mix list right there instead of having to put it together across several different tables. (Memorize that orange=red+yellow, purple=red+blue, and green=blue+yellow to make things go faster. That's simple, real-life color math, anyway.)
6 of 6: To remind yourself what level of potions your Alchemy guy is capable of making, right-click and hold on the Alchemy skill in his skills list.
