Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer Hints

How and where can I play Arcomage?

  • 1 of 5: You only get money (and tournament credit) the first time you win at Arcomage in any given tavern. Future wins are useless, unless you think the game is fun.
  • 2 of 5: If the requirements in the tavern you're playing in are very high (like Tower of 100 or more), your best bet is to destroy the enemy tower. If you don't start off with some really good damage cards (like Discord, Shatterer, Pegasus Lancer, or Dragon), just quit by pressing ESC and play again until you do. You'll have lots of Arcomage losses in your Awards list, but who cares? It doesn't hurt you any. It's only the first-time wins in the 11 taverns that count for anything.
  • 3 of 5: Similarly, if you want to go for winning by building the biggest tower, do the old quit-and-restart routine until you start out with some good tower builder cards (at least +11).
  • 4 of 5: As for winning by resource development, I don't think that should ever be an initial goal. It's just something that you can watch for possibilities later on in a game if your original strategy isn't going so well, and you've been playing too long to quit.
  • 5 of 5: Another thing to watch out for is a game glitch where the game freezes the entire computer, forcing you to hit the reset button, when you try to start a new game of Arcomage. Always save before entering a tavern you intend to play Arcomage in.
