Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer Hints

What would you say is the ideal party of five?

  • 1 of 6: Well, for starters, I like Neve Campbell...
  • 2 of 6: But she's not available. Too bad! You'll have to settle for the ugly mugs in the game.
  • 3 of 6: There are many party compositions that can succeed. The only ones that would have serious trouble are ones in which you have more than two of the same character class (even if that class is Dragon). You need more diversity in skills and spells than such a "redundant party" could provide.
  • 4 of 6: My favorite party is where I create a Troll hero, then recruit a Cleric, Necromancer, Dark Elf, and Dragon later on. The Troll is the main fighter guy (at least until the Dragon joins), the Cleric is the only one who can become grandmaster of Self and Light Magic, only the Necromancer can grandmaster in Elemental and Dark Magic and Alchemy, the Dark Elf can GM in Merchant and Disarm Trap, and the Dragon is one hot and toasty guy.
  • 5 of 6: You can recruit a Cleric and Necromancer in the village of Blood Drop at the beginning of the game, a Dark Elf in Alvar later on, and a Dragon in Garrote Gorge's Dragon Cave even later on than that.
  • 6 of 6: Or if you want a really good Dark Elf early in the game, go for Cauri Blackthorne in the Murmurwoods region. Doing so early in the game is what I call an Aggressive Campaign.
