Might and Magic IX Hints
How do I win these games?
of 10: First, buy a batch of tickets from Huckster. (When you do, make sure the currently-selected character's inventory isn't full or nearly full, or you won't get all ten tickets.)
of 10: Then pick a game to start with, save your game in front of it, and then play it.
of 10: If you win, repeat the process with another game. If you lose, restore your save and try again (this makes sure you don't need to buy more tickets).
of 10: Following are some tips on winning each game:
of 10: The half-orc and bell are really simple. Just use the half-orc to strong-arm him and win, and just use the base of the bell to ring it and win. You have to have a certain amount of Might to do this, but one of your characters is bound to have enough by the time you need to win a prize here.
of 10: The boat race is nearly as easy. Talk to the guy in the tent to get started, then fire arrows at the boat with the black sail until it crosses the finish line. (You may want to move along the shore to make it easier to target the boat as it nears the finish line.)
of 10: The stones game inside the tent is also fairly simple (jump up onto the table and look down to get a better view). Your strategy should be to make a yellow "wall" your enemy can't cross and then encroach into his territory. You should win easily.
of 10: The other two games are a bit harder. The one with the goose heads that pop up and duck down is tough because it's hard to turn and click that fast. If you have trouble with it, try yanking the activation lever, waiting for the countdown to reach one, and then quickly pressing the ENTER key to enter turn-based mode. Click on 10 or so goose heads at your leisure, then return to real-time mode and wait. You should soon get the message that you won.
of 10: The hardest game to do is the one with all the colored stones. Note that there's a row of four white stones. This is a variation of Mastermind, where you guess the pre-determined color sequence. To set or reset the color of one of the four stones, use a colored stone in the front row, then use the stone you want to set to that color. Hit the lever in back to cause all correctly placed colors to flame. Keep trying until you can get it in four tries.
of 10: One thing you can do is set one stone's color, then save your game. The winning sequence is now set, and will remain the same if you load your save. So when you lose, restore your game and use what you learned to win the next time.
