Notes and Extras
  • 1 of 6: You can't cast Town Portal or Lloyd's Beacon in this dungeon, so if you want to exit in order to rest or train, you'll have to walk to the exit. (Or you could just wait 1 hour repeatedly to heal and regain spell points if you have objects readied that restore hit points and spell points over time.)
  • 2 of 6: There are two treasure chests in the rooms just NE of the tomb entrance, but there are lots of trigger-happy traps in each room, so get in and out fast! (Or walk carefully around the perimeter of the rooms to avoid triggering the traps.) There are two similar rooms east of the big watery room.
  • 3 of 6: Most treasure chests in this area regenerate every time you leave and reenter the tomb.
  • 4 of 6: Watch out for Lesser Demons regenerating into Greater Demons after you kill them, especially on the top level of the tomb.
  • 5 of 6: If you come back to the tomb after imprisoning Njam and winning the game, there are two glitches to watch out for. First, Njam will still periodically appear and attack you. Also, do not throw the big lever on the top floor again, or there'll be a really serious screwup. (Note, however, that you can kill the frozen Njam for a lot of XP.)
  • 6 of 6: After you win the game, your score screen will be automatically saved as a .BMP file in the Might and Magic IX directory. Copy it off somewhere safe if you want to show it to someone and brag. My top score so far is 1,441,934, though my average score is more like 150,000. The reason that one score is so high is that I had two mages and two liches in my party, all four of whom were Learning GMs and finished at over level 200. If I'd felt like milking it, I could have gone and gotten lots more XP and level-ups right before finishing the game, thereby raising my score up much higher.
