NPCs
  • 1 of 2: Alberik Gusmundssen, in the SW sector of the city, will hire on to improve your Merchant skill for $500 a month plus 2% of all gold found. The cool thing is that his boost to your Merchant skill will become permanent when you dismiss him, so just hire him and then fire him right away.
  • 2 of 2: Ehwaz, who's either in the temple or somewhere near it, can cast the Town Portal spell at expert level once a day. She charges $1,000 a month plus 15% of all gold found. Like most special-ability NPCs, she's a total wimp fighter. (Also, her Town Portal spell isn't worth the money since your magic-users can cast it at the same ability level very early in the game.)
