Might and Magic IX Hints
What can I do in the Arena?
of 8: You can fight, bet on fights, or just watch fights.
of 8: Just watching costs 5 gold and doesn't get you anything.
of 8: To make money the safe way, bet on fights. The two contestants are represented in miniature next to the Arena Master's window so that you can examine them (the G key is default for that) and decide which one to bet on.
of 8: If you can't decide or don't like the match-up, simply exit and reenter the Arena for a new pair.
of 8: You can really rack up the gold this way! Save your game, bet the max on a fight, and then either restore your save and try again if you lose, or go claim your prize from the Arena Master if you win. When you win, exit and reenter the Arena and repeat the process.
of 8: You can also go in and fight monsters yourself at varying difficulty levels to get some experience and prize money. (If you do, check the two rooms the monsters come out of to make sure you kill them all before returning to the Arena Master to claim your prize.)
of 8: WARNING: If your characters are very high-level (like 100 or so), the game may freeze when you choose to fight. Always save right before signing up to fight in the Arena.
of 8: Also note that there's an interesting little glitch in here. See the Notes and Extras for details.
