Can I ever get to the SW section of the east mines?
  • 1 of 13: You mean the boarded-up region?
  • 2 of 13: You can't bash the boards.
  • 3 of 13: But a rolling mine cart can.
  • 4 of 13: Look through a gap in the boards, and you should see a mine cart off in the distance.
  • 5 of 13: Save your game here before you do anything else.
  • 6 of 13: Shoot at the mine cart, and it should soon start rolling toward you.
  • 7 of 13: When it hits the board barrier, it should break through (and blow up the nearby barrel), but it may not due to a game glitch. If it just stops without breaking the boards, then restore your game, exit and reenter the mine region and try again. It should work eventually.
  • 8 of 13: However, that's only the first barrier you have to deal with. There are four more, one on each of the little caves to the west.
  • 9 of 13: The first cave, which branches off to the south, has a barrier that's bolted into place. Use each of the six bolts to remove it. The barricade will then collapse.
  • 10 of 13: Farther west, there are three more little caves. The north one requires you to use a big steam faucet that's opposite the barrier to blast it (and then use the faucet again to turn the steam off).
  • 11 of 13: The south one wants you to click on a loose board standing near the barricade to create a ramp you can use to move over it while crouching.
  • 12 of 13: The west one has you look through a hole in the barricade and shoot the torch on the opposite wall. This will blow up the explosives in the room.
  • 13 of 13: Don't neglect to visit the north alcove of the west cave and raid the two chests there for lots of ore. Sell it to the armor shop guy in Thjorgard City for big bucks!
