How can I make it across the fireball-spittin' room unharmed?
  • 1 of 10: NOTE: When you first enter the room, a squeaky little rat will run across the tiles and get fireballed. Just stand back and watch. (Don't worry about the rat setting off the traps; it won't count as you setting off a trap.)
  • 2 of 10: This can be a very hard and frustrating room (it sure was for me until a user wrote in with the following tips), but it doesn't have to be.
  • 3 of 10: First of all, press the ESC key to access the game's menu.
  • 4 of 10: Go under "Options" and "Game Options" and turn the "Always Run" feature off. (Also, don't have a Fleet Foot spell active.)
  • 5 of 10: Now go stand right in front of the floor tile that's nearest the timer lever and hit F5 to quicksave your game.
  • 6 of 10: Use your mouse to turn and face the timer lever, then use the lever to start the ticker. Even though the lever looks too far away, you should be able to activate it from where you are.
  • 7 of 10: Quickly use the mouse to turn back so that you're facing the row of four tiles ahead of you straight-on, then lean on the forward arrow key to walk forward, hitting the Jump key when needed to hop from one tile to the next. (Note that you don't need to jump onto the first tile or off of the last one.)
  • 8 of 10: It should be very easy to make it to the other side without setting off any traps. If you do trigger one because you jumped too soon or too late, hit F9 to quickrestore and try again.
  • 9 of 10: As soon as you make it to the floor on the other side, lean on the LEFT SHIFT key so that you can run to the door and open it before the timer goes off.
  • 10 of 10: After quicksaving again, go back to the "Game Options" menu and turn "Always Run" back on.
