Where's the key for the locked door in the north central room?
- 1 of 10: It's in the southeastern-most room.
- 2 of 10: It's sitting on a small round table along with a stand-up diary scrap.
- 3 of 10: The only problem is the two Terrors that are in the same room.
- 4 of 10: If you're not powerful enough to face the Terrors and kill them, then you still have a chance of getting the key and getting away with it. Read on to find out how.
- 5 of 10: Have you ever noticed how all three types of Banshees (including Terrors) always fly away in a rather erratic pattern after they fly up to you and slash at you? You can use that to evade the Terrors after hastily grabbing the key.
- 6 of 10: But there's a better way. You can enter the room in turn-based combat mode and make off with the key without the Terrors even knowing you were there! Be sure to save your game before trying, since it doesn't always work. See the General Combat Tips for a bit more info on turn-based combat.
- 7 of 10: Before you try this, you'll need to deal with the two nearby skeleton warriors that always see you as you approach the door to the Terrors' room. If you're not powerful enough to take them on face-to-face, you can either try to sneak past them in turn-based mode or lead them into the water and then jump up onto the ledge. (They'll stay in the water, and will be unable to attack you very much as you shoot them down.)
- 8 of 10: Once the skeletons are dealt with, walk up to the Terror room door and go into turn-based mode if you're not in it already. Open the door and move into the room just far enough so that you can turn and see the table with the key.
- 9 of 10: Your characters have a *very* long reach, so you don't have to be near the table to nab the key. You should be able to move into the room, get the key, and move out again in the same turn. (It would also help to close the doors as soon as you're back out, especially if your danger indicator has gone red.)
- 10 of 10: Now that you have the key, you could use the same turn-based sneak tactics to make your way up to the door it opens and nab Verhoffin's silver diary out from under the noses of the Zombies and Frights. You can even do this at the beginning of the game with level 1 characters, though it may take several tries.
