Might and Magic IX Hints
How do I solve the scroll's message cryptogram?
of 8: You know it's about where the Book of Rules is.
of 8: So look for some letters that could be "Book of Rules" when translated. That'll give you the start of a cryptogram key.
of 8: It's clearly "Yllp lu Ifovh", so translate Y to B, L to O, P to K, etc.
of 8: You'll then see that "yllphsvou" has to be "bookshelf", so S translates to H, and you can then easily deduce that "gsv" is "the".
of 8: You then have "rot_t___" right before "bookshelf" in your translation, so it's clearly "rotating."
of 8: Once you apply the new letter translation knowledge that brings you, you should be able to see that the message reads:
of 8: "You can find the Book of Rules behind the rotating bookshelf in the next room."
of 8: Hey, that was a lot easier than Might and Magic II's end-of-the-game cryptogram!
