The Secret of Monkey Island Hints
Second Piece (Hard)
1 of 20: The rope you need is in plain view, but it's out of immediate reach.
2 of 20: Something's holding it just above your head.
3 of 20: Have you looked at the pond at the end of the dry river bed?
4 of 20: It's on the map screen immediately north of the map screen which contains the south shore.
5 of 20: The hanging corpse is holding a coil of rope.
6 of 20: But you can't reach it unless either you get up there or...
7 of 20: He gets down.
8 of 20: Somehow you have to lower the hanging corpse from its perch.
9 of 20: Have you noticed what the cord suspending the corpse is tied to?
10 of 20: A log.
11 of 20: To lower the body, you have to raise the log.
12 of 20: The log is too heavy to lift.
13 of 20: What would raise the log, though?
14 of 20: The corpse is hanging over the remnants of a dried-out pond.
15 of 20: Logs float.
16 of 20: If the pond was full, the log would float.
17 of 20: In order for the pond to be full, the water would have to come along the dry river bed.
18 of 20: What's holding back the water?
19 of 20: A dam is hindering the water at the river fork (on the same map screen as the pond).
