How do I buy a ship?

  • 1 of 13: To buy a ship, you must be able to finance it.
  • 2 of 13: Unfortunately, the Storekeeper's note of credit severely limits your selection of ships.
  • 3 of 13: You can only buy the cheap ship at the far end of the dock near the rear of the screen.
  • 4 of 13: Ask Stan about the cheap ship, and offer him the note of credit to finance it.
  • 5 of 13: Now, you need to bargain in order to talk Stan below the 5,000 pieces of eight credit you have.
  • 6 of 13: Bargaining for a ship is a lot like bargaining for a used car.
  • 7 of 13: To find out Stan's price at any given time, ask "Well, what do you think its worth?"
  • 8 of 13: To lower his price, do what you'd do at a used car lot.
  • 9 of 13: Turn down the extras.
  • 10 of 13: Threaten to walk out.
  • 11 of 13: Make a low offer.
  • 12 of 13: Once you've lowered the price below 5,000 pieces of eight, you can buy the ship.
  • 13 of 13: Stan will meet you at the dock in town after you obtain a three person crew (not including yourself).
