Escape from Monkey Island Hints

How do I get Herman's accordion?

  • 1 of 12: First, you need to find it.
  • 2 of 12: A monkey has it in the monkey town on the far side of the island.
  • 3 of 12: The monkey won't just give it to you.  You need to figure out an alternate way to acquire it.
  • 4 of 12: Perhaps you could trade something for it.
  • 5 of 12: He'd want another musical instrument.
  • 6 of 12: You won't find any other instruments on the island, per se.  You'll have to think out of the box for this one.
  • 7 of 12: Look around the island for a couple of small, metallic disks.
  • 8 of 12: You can use the two little shields above the doorway of the cathedral (on the inside).  Unfortunately, they're out of reach.
  • 9 of 12: You'll need to use something to help you grab them.
  • 10 of 12: Use the banana picker to get the shields.  (You'll find the banana picker leaning against a cactus down in the canyon.)
  • 11 of 12: If you look at them again, you'll discover that they're not really shields but cymbals.
  • 12 of 12: Now, just play the cymbals for the monkey and he'll leave you his accordion.
