Escape from Monkey Island Hints
How do I operate the file retrieval system?
of 11: Dave's monkey set up a code for file retrieval using a series of pictures.
of 11: Play around with the system and try to figure out how the code works.
of 11: Each 3-picture group corresponds to a different name.
of 11: Each name has 3 initials, and there are 3 dials on the controls.
of 11: So each picture corresponds to a different initial, from left to right.
of 11: Of course, there are only 5 pictures and 26 letters in the alphabet, so the pictures can represent more than one letter each.
of 11: It might help to keep a tally of what symbols correspond with which initials.
of 11: This tally would reveal that each picture corresponds to a specific group of letters, as I've given in the next hint.
of 11: The groups are A-D: Rabbit E-H: Palm Tree I-M: Pumpkin N-S: Monkey T-Z: Bananas
of 11: Just match each picture with the initials of the name you're looking for. For instance, to get the file for Arthur F. Jomama (initials: A. F. J.), you'd select Rabbit, Palm Tree, Pumpkin, then press the button.
of 11: Pete's real name is randomly selected, so I can't give you the exact combination.
