Escape from Monkey Island Hints

I've located the fourth heirloom. How do I get it?

  • 1 of 19: You need to melt the wax off of the painting in order to restore it to its original state.
  • 2 of 19: Notice the little sushi boats traveling close to the painting.  Maybe you can use these.
  • 3 of 19: First, you need to get something hot in them.
  • 4 of 19: Try ordering some hot food.  (You have to sit down at a bar stool first and then talk to the waitress.)
  • 5 of 19: Your food comes in a flaming boat.  That should be hot enough.
  • 6 of 19: The flaming boat passes by the painting, but it doesn't stay under it long enough to melt the wax.  You need to stop it in front of the painting somehow.
  • 7 of 19: If you could jam the propulsion mechanism, that would stop the boats.
  • 8 of 19: You can try the chopsticks, but they break.  You need to find something sturdier.
  • 9 of 19: There's an item you can pick up on the island that Guybrush describes as being "sturdy".
  • 10 of 19: That item is Meathook's paintbrush.
  • 11 of 19: When the flaming boat passes by the painting, jam the paintbrush into the propulsion mechanism.
  • 12 of 19: Unfortunately, the chef fixes the mechanism quickly, and the flaming boat still doesn't melt the wax.  You're going to have to mess up the mechanism more thoroughly.
  • 13 of 19: To do so, you're going to have to go to the source.
  • 14 of 19: While the chef is fixing the damage you did with the paintbrush, enter the kitchen.
  • 15 of 19: You need to sabotage the sushi boat steam generator somehow.
  • 16 of 19: What was the stuff you used the last time you had to do some serious damage?
  • 17 of 19: Remember the bank vault door?
  • 18 of 19: Some good, old fashion grog will come in handy once again.
  • 19 of 19: Jam the mechanism with the paintbrush when the flaming boat is in front of the painting and then use the grog on the steam generator.  (You may have to order hot food again.)
