The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints

Get Sarandus to pay his bills.

  • 1 of 11: To start on this quest, go to Ald'ruhn City and talk to various merchants about work.
  • 2 of 11: The ones that have that dialogue option are:

        Daynes Redothril: Pawnbroker
        Tiras Sadus: General Merchandise
        Bevene Releth: Clothier
        Llether Vari: Enchanter (in Manor District)
        Bivale Teneran: Clothier (in Manor District)
  • 3 of 11: Once you've volunteered to collect for all five of them, go visit Ienas Sarandus in his house near the Manor District.
  • 4 of 11: There are three ways you can get him to hand over the goods without killing him.
  • 5 of 11: One way is to either get his disposition to 60 or have a Speechcraft skill of at least 50. If you meet one of these requirements when you talk to him about "overdue payments," you'll get an option to offer a sympathetic ear and friendly advice.
  • 6 of 11: If you don't meet those requirements but do have a copy of the book called "Saryoni's Sermons" in your inventory, you'll get the option to read him a quote from the book. (Note that a copy is sitting on a table near him, and he doesn't mind if you take it.)
  • 7 of 11: If neither of the above two ways applies to you, but you have at least one bottle of flin, greef, or Cyrodiilic brandy, you can offer him a drink.
  • 8 of 11: No matter which of those three ways you use, he'll see what a screw-up he's become and will hand over the items you need to return to the merchants.
  • 9 of 11: Go talk to each one of the five of them about work again to get the returning done.
  • 10 of 11: Note that Bivale Teneran doesn't actually give you the 50 gold that she says she's giving you, so you might want to sell the shirt and pants Sarandus gives you to the other clothier outside the Manor District. That will teach her!
  • 11 of 11: You'll learn later by asking about "latest rumors" that Sarandus has donated his house to the temple and is studying to be a priest. You can even find him in the local Temple building.
