The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Hints
Where can I get some empty grand soul gems?
1 of 6: There aren't very many convenient, easy-to-reach areas that are guaranteed to have them. Most bandit caves will have grand soul gems as random treasure once you're level 11, so you might want to try them. Or read on for some fixed locations.
2 of 6: There are two setting on a shelf free for the taking in the Hall of Fyr in the Tower of Tel Fyr (location 4 on the Tel Aruhn map). That's not too hard to get to if you sail to Tel Aruhn and head due south (preferably with a Water Walking or Levitate spell on you).
3 of 6: Another place is Salama Andrethi's room in Tel Mora's Tower Services area (see the Tel Mora Notes and Extras if you need help getting there). There's one grand soul gem on the little shelf with the candle, and there are two more on a high-up ridge that runs around the room. They're near the top of the ceiling, so you'll have to Levitate up there. (First, though, you'll probably want to taunt-kill Andrethi or cast a powerful Chameleon spell to avoid being caught stealing.)
4 of 6: You can also buy a grand soul gem from the trader shop in Vivec's Redoran Waistworks (or pick the weak lock on the nearby door and steal it from his storeroom).
5 of 6: Another one can be found on a little alcove table on the lower floor of the Tel Naga Great Hall in Sadrith Mora.
6 of 6: If you run short of grand soul gems and don't know where to get any more, the best thing to do is the Daedric Shrine Quest for Azura. The reward for finishing that quest is a reusable grand soul gem called Azura's Star. You can trap a soul in it, use it to enchant or recharge an item, trap another soul in it, and so on.
